March 28th, 2022 — Patch Rundown (Patch Notes & Design Thoughts)

NOTE: THIS CURRENT PATCH RUNDOWN IS STILL TENTATIVE AND IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE UNTIL THE PATCH GOES LIVE. TREAT THIS AS AN EARLY PATCH PREVIEW FOR NOW.

Patch Rundown by Ardoyn

It’s been a while everyone. The Kore team has returned from their GDC trip and we’re coming straight back into things with the next major feature that’s been cooking for a while: burning.

BURNING:
  • NEW — When in a Venari’s page, you can now burn a Venari (WARNING: DOING SO WILL REMOVE THE VENARI FROM YOUR INVENTORY PERMANENTLY) for essences.

  • For lent passes, the essence will be divided at the ratio of your lent pass.

So, why burning? I’m sure many of you have super packed inventories full of Venari and want something to do with them. While those details are still under wraps, burning serves as the quick intermediary step for those next major features, leveling and Venari utility. In order to level your Venari and thus use them for more gameplay, you will need essence.

ESSENCE:
  • NEW — Fragments are the basic essence material, sorted by the Venari’s genus. For example, if you burn a Laticus, you will receive Stiola essence. The amount you receive will scale with the tier of Venari burned. Tier 1 = 100 essence, Tier 2 = 1500 essence, Tier 3 = 3500 essence, Legendary = 80,000 essence.
  • NEW — Shards are the second tier material and are not bound by genus. It is a rare drop from burning any tier of Venari with the amount received scaling with the tier of Venari burned.
  • NEW — Kores are the highest tier material and are not bound by genus. It is a very rare drop from burning Tier 2 Venari but is guaranteed from burning Tier 3 and higher.

Currently, this is the system we have in mind with a fixed ratio system and fixed odds for the rarer materials. Fragments of the same genus will be required for leveling your Venari, with Shards and Kores being used for increasing level caps and unlocking perks.

GAMEPLAY CHANGES:
  • NEW — A 24 hour timer has been added to the conclusion of a bait timer. If a Venari is not caught, the bait will expire along with any Venari it spawned.
  • NEW — “Extinct” Venari have returned, however, upon catching any Venari that’s population has already hit the “cap”, will automatically be converted to equivalent burn resources.
  • NEW — Burning a Venari will actually remove it from your inventory and reintroduce it to the spawn pool. So if someone else spawns it after you burn it, they can actually catch the Venari rather than receiving burn materials.

The first change is implemented to address the “hoarding” of rarer Venari that we saw during the Lunar New Years event. The second is so that you can still always chase your favorite Venari for essence without worrying about them running to extinction and also have Venari recycle into the spawning pool for other users to try and catch.

ANTICHEAT:
  • NEW — Behind the scenes anti-botting measures have been improved, with a temporary auto-ban system being added.

This is very simple. Don’t cheat, don’t bot. We will catch you and ban you.

OTHER/BUGFIXES:
  • BUGFIX — Feed combo inconsistencies fixed.
  • BUGFIX — Fixed an issue where in-game music would play multiple times.
  • NEW — General UI improvements
  • NEW — Updated art for Rigs/Baits

That wraps up my Patch Rundown, bit of a lighter one as we’re getting back up on our feet to start pushing out more patches reliably again. For now, treat this patch as a primer for the more heavy hitting leveling/utility patch coming soon. As always, we’ll be looking very carefully at player data after the patch as well as gathering all of your feedback so make sure to come by the official Legends of Venari Discord (discord.gg/legendsofvenari) to communicate any opinions/feedback/suggestions you may have!

Until next time!
