Quick Update — 24 April, 2022

We are a few days into the launch of our Training Quests and we’ve had a few patches come out over the last few days to address some issues with the TQs. I want to write this unofficial patch notes/info to make sure everyone is in the same page of our TQ journey! — Mr. Faun

To start it needs to be understood what the TQ release entailed. The training quests are released as the first quests on top of our Questing V2 system (Along with fishing, foraging, and wishing well ports). This system is a ground up rework of the QV1 contracts. Based on our learning and community feedback, the QV2 system is built ready to handle a lot of requests from the community. MultiQueuing, MultiComplete, higher level profession quests, and more! (I see you the guy I met in Barcelona begging me for these features! Sorry I forgot your name)

While not released, these features are all in our development schedule and will be coming out. The QV2 system has also been crafted to ensure an easy port to CrystalVale after our upcoming hero release. Very exciting!

Ok so Mr. Faun, why are you talking about this? It’s because TQs are just the tip of the ice berg of what was released last week and with that context it’s easier to understand the depth of what was accomplished even given a few bumps along the way.

After the launch of QV2 our amazing data team and community members started to notice a variance from the expected results of the TQs. People were demolishing our NPCs! This is not good for long term economics and for the self confidence of our trainers. Thanks to our mechanics team we found the bug in the contract Friday morning and worked a fix through our channels and testing. The bug affected all heroes high or low stats to have a similar outcome. That fix went out Saturday morning. We are currently monitoring the data since the patch and it appears the results are balancing to their intended output. We are currently gathering more data to ensure that it’s nailed down right. For reference I’m linking a beautiful graph by Nonlinear Penguin showing intended outcomes vs the results since the patch. Looking good now!

Hopefully that clears up any community confusion on what’s going on! Along with that patch we fixed a few other things that were found by our amazing community members;

  • The Foraging and Fishing ports to QV2 skill ups are now accurately calculating and rewarding skill ups.
  • Upgraded the TQs to use the new StatScience and fixed a few stat lookups on respective quests.
  • Wishing well users (shockingly more than I realized. Where you guys hiding these days?) were made unstuck.
