“Last week’s security breach has served as a potent reminder of the importance of truly distributed networks. 

We have considerable long-term ambitions for Ronin. We believe that engaging you all (and others) more directly to collectively secure and oversee the network is a fundamental prerequisite for security and scale.  We are accelerating that process, and want your input on next steps.

Our overall goal is to reach a state in three months where at least 21 independent validator nodes are collectively securing the network. We believe the following steps will help establish a glidepath towards realizing these goals.

Step 1:  Add more organizations to the validator node pool.  We are in the process of on-boarding Nansen, Delphi Digital, Stable Node, Animoca Brands, and Dialectic to our validator node pool. We expect this to be completed this week. The goal of this stage is to simply acclimate a collection of new stakeholders to the group, and get them familiar with the node technology in its current state. 

Step 2:  Evolve the current source code to improve security and decentralization functionality.  For example, we'd like to add the ability to assign withdrawal limits and enable more governance functions in the bridge.  We anticipate the design process to be collaborative throughout, involving our community as well as other security firms and investors.

Validator Applications

We understand that there is a lot of excitement in the community to help validate the network. To provide an egalitarian and accessible path to becoming a validator we have opened up an application form here. Running a validator is an important role that will help secure billions of dollars in asset value– applicants should have a high degree of alignment and technical ability.

The application will ask a variety of questions that will be used to assess a party’s ability to secure the network.”
