Tip 1: Know your exact damage output
If you want to become better at arena you have to know exactly how much damage each of your axes and each of the abilities do to the different types of Axies you face. You would be surprised at how much you would improve by knowing the exact amount of damage you do when calculating whether it would be enough to kill another Axie or not.
Together with this you will also start learning how much shield your opponent's Axies generate so that you can do this calculation more accurately. I would suggest taking a piece of paper and writing down the exact damage until you have it memorized.
Tip 2: Understand your opponent’s strategy
Check your opponents cards at the beginning of the match to figure out what they are trying to achieve. For example in the video’s game the aqua uses chitin jump to prioritize the furthest target which he can use this to kill my bird.
Tip 3: Counting your opponents cards
Watch the video to understand how the mechanic works but in essence by counting cards you will learn how to predict your opponent’s moves better!
Tip 4: Prioritization
Re-prioritization or re-target abilities work in very specific ways. Make sure you know how they work. Examples in the video.
