Why the first game will be on Polygon!

Since inception, the Fancy Games research team has spent a lot of time exploring many L2s, looking for those that can provide the most robust and affordable experience for the users. Currently, that L2 is Polygon. With a short timeline to launch the first game — Fancy Birds, the team decided that Polygon would be the optimal solution, especially for the smart contract capabilities required for game development and NFT metadata. Polygon will allow Fancy Birds to launch without delay and to offer full functionality to all its features on a tried and tested L2. The main governance functionalities for FNC and staking will stay on Ethereum mainnet.

sFNC (Synthetic FNC)

For those that have been staking and accumulating FNC rewards, the ability to claim sFNC will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 9th at 14:00 UTC. There will be a bridge built to automatically mint the sFNC on the Polygon network after claiming. The underlying FNC will be burned from the total supply. Synthetic FNC will be used for in-game purchases, most importantly Breeding to start off.

Preparing for the Genesis Mint

In preparation of the Mint starting on Feb. 10th, make sure to have sufficient ETH on the Polygon network (0.06 ETH per Bird + Gas Fees).

For the future of Fancy Birds, the team is still researching the evolution of L2s and will be on the lookout for the best networks to host our future games. Rollup solutions on StarkWare, zkSync, Arbitrum, and others will be observed with great interest as they develop and become more usable for smart contract development. Depending on the timeline of the 2nd and 3rd game arcade games, which are in development at the moment, we will be actively engaging with all rollup L2 communities and teams for multi-chain deployment.
