    Why write game guides?

Currently content in the blockchain gaming space is spread across a number of verticals – Discord, Twitter, Medium, Substack, Telegram, Youtube, and growing daily. There are massive amounts of passionate users creating content, but much of that content is lost for new users – its not indexed by search engines, and the exact information isn’t easily found.

Due to this information gap, these guides are beneficial for individual games and even their investors. Better, more organized, information makes the space (and individual games) more approachable, and in theory helps new users to feel comfortable getting involved. But… this intersection of crypto gaming is not only made up of investors and game creators. Players, traditional content creators, and even Guilds have been getting involved and making content.

Are you looking to show off your game knowledge? Grow your brand and audience? Make your favorite game more approachable for new players? Maybe this is the place for you – keep reading!

    What do you need?

The best guide writers require a few different things:

    • Intimate knowledge about the game.
      • A game guide or walkthrough is only helpful if it teaches players what they are looking to learn. Beginner guides
    • Organization
    • Perhaps some humor to keep the reader engaged.

    Pick a niche

Here’s some questions to ask yourself as you start writing. Try to keep your guide on topic as best you can – remember, good guides answer the problem your user is looking to solve!

    • Is your guide geared towards Beginners, Intermediates,  or Experts?
    • Is your guide focused on teaching a specific technology? or is it about a specific function of a game? (breeding, battling, questing?)

    Tips and Shortcuts

    • Writing from scratch? Separate your guide into different sections first and foremost. Once the bones of your guide are layed out, its much easier to go back and fill in each individual section with the details.
    • Video creator? Already have a guide that was made for Youtube/Twitch? You can easily transcribe this using various services to take most of the work out of creating your text guide. I’ve tried a few but HappyScribe gives 1 free transcription – just enter the youtube video you’d like to transcribe. Once you have the rough text, go back through and proofread, add images and some formatting, and you’re good to publish!
