Diary of Agent M4 — Memories of planet Gerio with Lieutenant Wenn in the High-Risk Zone The beautiful face of power is pleasure /// Metaverse in Light Speed Expansion /// Immersive Blockchain-Powered UE5 Experience “The punaabs are a fascinating species, as diverse as the many stars in the skies, yet they all share one common trait, loyalty. A punaab never forgets a helping hand and will fight to the death for his leader, pack, or family.” Zoologist Argadal on the compendium — Fascinating Creatures of the Galaxy When Wenn opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was the beauty of the Milky Way. Looking out his side window, he realized their gamble had paid off. The jump — made with rushed, partially random coordinates — had sent them here to this place with this majestic view: a calm, quiet blanket of stars. But he realized nothing felt calm. As his hearing returned — he always had trouble with his hearing after jumps ever since he had come too close to a sonic detonation during a mock fight at the Academy — Wenn realized he had never heard so many of the ship’s alarm bells going off at the same time. But why? He turned to look out the opposite window and found white. All white. They were careening towards an ice-covered planet at tremendous speed. “Impact with an unknown planet in 25 seconds now 98% certain.” the A.I. announced above the din. Wenn slammed on the controls. “Computer, take evasive maneuvers! Engage emergency thrusters!” “Auto emergency thrusters were deactivated — an unsanctioned modification taken despite multiple warnings.” Wenn continued to steer left as hard as he could. “Yago, wake up!!” The Mierese still had his eyes tightly closed, but only out of fear. As he opened his eyes, he asked: “Did we die?” “We will soon unless you can manually engage the reverse thrusters!” As Yago reached for the controls, the ship’s shield started to succumb. The friction with the planet’s orbit started heating the fuselage of the Thrill of Life. The ONI pushed the lever. A grinding sound screamed. The planet was so close now that they could see ice-capped mountain tops below. “Ah, gods of the stars…!” Yago exclaimed as he tried to set the maneuvering thrusters into reverse. For one beautiful moment the plan worked — until the sound of an explosion suggested the aging engines had given their last push. “Impact in 20 seconds is now 100% certain.” The computer announced the hard truth in the same tone as someone would say good morning on a beautiful day. The two friends exchanged glances. “I guess we go back to your plan,” said Wenn. Yago gave him a puzzled look, trying to remember his plan. “Buckle up and close our eyes.” “Damnit, Wenn! I should have stopped that jump when I had the chance.” The Mierese said, eyes closed tight. “Let’s go, Paw. It’s already time.” Fang said while gently but decisively shaked his sister out of the worlds of dreams back into the cold reality of Gerio. “Just five more minutes.” Paw replied semi-consciously, pulling the leather blanket closer to his body. Fang decided to indulge his little sister this time and went ahead to prepare breakfast while looking through the window. “A raging blizzard is bound to start soon. We really should get going. Otherwise, we won’t be able to work today.” Fang thought to himself. They lived in their parent’s old burrow, made during the years when the Convergence war was at its peak. Even though their old home was built to last, and Paw did every possible bit of maintenance with the resources they could spare, the residence started to show signs of its age. This made it hard to survive the snowstorms, even for the two punaabs. As he saw the reflection of his body in the window, he couldn’t help but sigh. Fang recalled a few years had passed since they lost their parents to the caves. Both inherited the vast white fur and blue eyes, and Fang couldn’t help but smile, thinking that it was unfair that only Paw got their mother’s talent for dealing with machines. Instead, he had the muscular body of his father, great for mining work and fending off attacks from whatever crawled up from the abyss, but not much else. Even the strongest muscles couldn’t come up with a way to help them escape the cold claws of Gerio and its rulers. The scent of cooked cribbe eggs did the trick of finally getting the young punaab on her paws. The smile on her face upon seeing the humble breakfast erased the concerns in Fang’s mind. “Everything is alright if we are together,” he concluded in silence and proceeded to set the table for a quick meal. “Brother, you should totally become a chef. If you can make cribbe eggs taste this good, you have enough talent to open up a restaurant in Mergria.” Paw said with a smile. Fang dismissed the idea of opening a restaurant in the capital of the frozen world. “If I’m ever opening up a restaurant, it won’t be for the rich and powerful but for people like you and me.” He replied absent-mindedly. “Could you please get us some water? I left the gallon close to the oven this morning to defrost.” Paw promptly went for the gallon and started filling a small jar with water for them. Suddenly, as the pot neared half its capacity, a hint of red appeared in the sky, catching the punaab’s attention. “Brother… you better see th–” before she could finish the sentence, a crimson sphere passed so close that plates, eggs and punaabs were all knocked to the floor. “What was that?!. Are you ok, Paw?” Fang shouted while running to his sister’s side. After a few seconds of shock, Paw answered: “I… guess it was a ship…?” Flashes of memories flooded Wenn’s mind. A cold night sleeping outside in the Salvage Yard, Xannah grabbing his hands, Clonk and Yago playing with wooden swords, the years in the Academy, and some unpleasant memories as well. He found it challenging to piece everything together. He felt something gently touching his face. Snowflakes were falling on his cheeks. Looking at his cabin, now open to the elements, he thought of Miss Boqu.doer, his professor at the Academy. He wasn’t sure if she would be congratulating them on surviving the Tufa Attack or admonishing them for their improvised actions ending in such a mess. But, truth be told, it was their only option, and since they didn’t explode, Wenn guessed this could still be called a victory. As Wenn tried to rise out of his seat, he realized that every piece of his body was hurting. He might have one or two broken ribs, as he quickly learned while trying to stand up. The ship was in terrible shape, maybe even beyond recovery. Wenn suddenly realized the absence of his Mierese friend. “Yago?!!!” Wenn shouted. The cold air invaded his lungs, and his wounds ached with every call for his friend. “Yago!! Answer me!!!” Wenn started to feel desperate as he passed through a fountain of steam in what used to be the galley. Moving despite the pain, he tried not to think because just the thought of something happening to his friend and brother was too much for him. He left the ship, setting foot in what was quickly becoming a raging blizzard. He tried calling his friend’s name again, but to no avail, as the winds of the frozen world muffled his calls with their howls. He was so cold that he barely felt the icy kiss of metal on his neck. But then he heard a grave voice: “Don’t move, or you are dead, human.” shouted a high, heavily accented voice in the common language issued by the Council of Peace. Wenn froze (in every sense of the word) From the corner of his eye, he could see a small punaab with fur as white as the planet’s snow, looking at someone behind him, which Wenn figured was the one pointing the gun at him. The little creature spoke in the punaab’s native language. After answering with something that resembled a snarl, the mysterious attacker said in the common tongue: “Raise your arms slowly and start explaining why you tried to destroy our home, human. If your answer isn’t satisfying enough, I’ll have you killed.” “I’m afraid you’d be dead before even thinking about that.” Yago suddenly appeared from the other side of the ship, his dual blasters at hand. As the punaab moved to react to Yago, Wenn turned, blaster in hand. Simultaneously, the smaller punaab also raised what seemed to be a laser rifle, aiming at Yago, and suddenly a standoff was formed. Nervous eyes moved from one another, and the punaab girl shouted: “Lay down your weapons. We mean you no harm, and if you just throw them down now, we will guarantee your safety.” The other punaab, bigger and more muscular, replied on their tongue, adjusting his position while his eyes never left Wenn and Yago. “I don’t like your friend’s behavior.” shouted Yago through the storm. “He looks up to no good, and I’m pretty fed up with crazy punaabs lately, young lady.” The tension was escalating, and just as Wenn was about to make a move, a giant boar-like creature came running to the side of the punaab girl, crying and scared. “Momo!” The larger punaab shouted, holstering her rifle immediately and tending to the scared animal, who carried leather bags filled with heavy equipment. She proceeded to caress the beast but was unable to calm him. Wenn and Yago were still trying to process the new dynamic when they heard a terrifying sound. It was not the scream or roar of an ordinary beast. The two of them could feel the pressure of a predator coming. The punaabs immediately turned to face the new threat, forgetting entirely about Wenn and Yago as they said in unison: “Atoph.” Weekly Project Report Project: Showroom Alpha each day we are one step closer. Battle log of Unity BTOL x4 against TUFA Scourge Ambush in the High-Risk Zone — Status of the Agents — MIA TUFA Attack! /// Metaverse in Light Speed Expansion /// Immersive Blockchain-Powered UE5 Experience “Lesson nº 10 — Never go through an asteroid belt. It doesn’t matter if this will be a hassle or make you spend more fuel. Simply don’t go through the asteroid field.” — The Most Successful Guide of Common Sense Learnings for the Benefit of Space Exploration. “Hostile activity detected,” said the A.I of unity BTOL x4, now devoid of its characteristic sassiness, as the ship’s panel lit into combat mode. “Way to go, Wenn. You had to go through the asteroid field, even though eleven out of ten kids that dream of being a pilot know better than to go through an asteroid field this deep in space.” sneered the Mierese, hastily tapping the console, preparing the vessel for the encounter. Wenn knew he messed up. “That’s what getting all emotional does to you,” he thought. “You make mistakes. Now you will become the loot of some random deep space attacker. Congratulations.” Wenn assessed the situation. They were halfway through the asteroid belt when two signatures appeared on the radar. “Don’t worry, Yago,” Wenn said, keeping his gaze on the ship’s console. “As you said yourself, we are heroes. No hero worth his salt would die in such a dumb way.” They had been pretty unlucky, Wenn concluded. It seems they had passed right next to the ambushers. Otherwise, the flawless stealth mechanics of their Busan Thrill of Life would have spared them this chase. Yago looked to Wenn, trying to decide if his friend had finally gone mad or if this was another incursion of the so-called human humor. When he saw the smile on his friend’s face, he couldn’t help but share a constrained laugh while shaking his head. Yeah, that was the Wenn he knew. Things will get entertaining now. The ship console displayed a hologram of their two guests. The sight of two Tufa Feists knifing between asteroids and closing the gap did not bode well. “Hostiles closing gap due to superior impulse engines and maneuvering thrusters,” reported the A.I.. “Initial analysis shows the chance of victory in combat at 1.5%. “Come on, computer. Give us some good news.” Yago interjected. “The chance of escaping is 3%.” Yago tried to swallow but his mouth had gone dry. The A.I. continued: “In situations such as this one, the article nº 1.728, section II, (A) of ATMTA code of conduct establishes that crew members should state their wills after the — .” Whatever the A.I. said was muffled by the explosion of the first missile. It came unhealthily close to their vessel before colliding with a fragment of an asteroid. “Yago, you are in control.” Wenn said while typing commands to the A.I to scan the whole asteroid belt and display to him the projection of the terrain. They were now getting to the point where hardpoint weapons were a threat, including lasers reaching dangerously close to them, splashes of green light reflected on the cabin walls. Soon, their shields would suffer damage. Yago was a talented pilot. Aside from his cheekiness, and the firm belief of being chosen by the gods, he had the talent to back up his mouth. Until a certain point, at least.. They would need every single drop of talent, skill — and truth be told, luck — if they were to try what Wenn was planning. “Yago, adjust our course to the coordinates I’m sending. I need you to keep us alive for two minutes, and please try to keep our shields above 80%. I will focus on supporting you. Just pilot and don’t crash into anything until I say so.” Wenn said while entering the countermeasures bay and turning on manual weapons control . “Awesome, Wenn! Maybe I should also prepare another round of ko’fy for us and, who knows, give you a freaking massage while I’m at it as well, right?! Wait, did you say don’t crash until I say so?!’’ The Mierese said in a small panicked voice while doing a sharp turn to the right that tested the limits of the single maneuvering thruster the BTOL had. Yago knew that this would take them dangerously close to outside the asteroid belt, where they would be easy prey for the Tufa, but he trusted Wenn enough not to distract him with questions. He must have a plan, the Mierese reassured himself. He always has a plan. Indeed, the basics of a crazy, mostly suicidal, plan started to form in Wenn’s mind. He hated every single aspect of it, even though every other scenario that he tried to think of was doomed to failure. Wenn had learned in his life that this kind of elaborate plan was bound to fail. In fact, he had learned from Admiral Tharvagos himself, one of the leaders of the Council of Peace army and his mentor at the academy, that it’s always better to have the flexibility of multiple unlinked plots in a battle that could create momentum for victory instead of a single, sure-fire plan that depends on your opponent following logical steps. “Enemies rarely bow down and ask how they can best comply with your wishes,” the old Tharvagos would say. Unfortunately, Wenn’s plan depended on their enemies giving in to their greed, not throwing everything they had at hand to destroy his ship but aiming to wear it down to the point where they could capture it. The first step for this to work would be stalling for time until he had everything ready to go. Wenn was midway through reading the scan’s findings on the enemy’s ships when the alert sounded: “Enemy ships energy signature rising, energy volley most likely incoming, automatically driving energy to our shields.” “Denied permission for raising the energy on our shields!” Wenn shouted. His mind was racing. He knew he couldn’t spare any extra energy for the defense at this point. Energy weapons, although painful, wouldn’t destroy the BTOL hull that easily if Yago could dodge at least most of the shots. Probably. Wenn locked two of the four hardpoint weapons of his BTOL on each of the Feists. Hopefully, this would distract them, making them unable to fire at full strength if they needed to reinforce their shield to prevent damage to their hull. The idea seemed to work. Bullets were raining heavily from the four heavy machine guns of the BTOL, making their enemies raise their shield energy output and move to evade the shots. “The Tufas don’t want to buy more toolkits.” Wenn thought to himself, smiling. He concluded that they were playing safe, and this was just what they needed. After hearing Wenn’s denial of the shield energy increase, Yago suddenly realized the answer to why he didn’t want to waste energy. That crazy human wanted to jump while in the midst of the asteroid field! Every fiber in Yago’s body wanted to scream in unison that this was a bad idea. “Every fiber” included his mouth — which wanted to scream loudest of all. But he didn’t have a second to spare as the enemy’s laser ports brightened in anticipation of their attack. And yet, Yago’s mind suddenly relaxed. Everything disappeared from the Mierese’ attention. There were only the controls of the BTOL, the asteroid before them and the volley of lasers coming their way. The agent controlled the BTOL as it danced across the cosmic currents of space. The vessel went right and low, up and left, as if performing a silent ballet on the stage of the asteroid field. The lasers were missing, but only just barely, showering Yago’s vision with debris from the unlucky asteroids that received the charges. Yet, he didn’t flinch. A very familiar corner of the Mierese mind felt the thrill and excitement building. The more complex the maneuvers, the higher the hero laughed inside him, as Yago secretly named that part of himself. The hero and Yago felt they could do more, so they pushed the BTOL to limits that were inconceivable for the logic of an asteroid field flight. They were somehow increasing their lead on attackers using vessels built specifically for this kind of flight. Wenn was dumbfounded by the skills displayed by Yago. To the point that he had almost forgotten to launch the small drone ahead of them, setting up the second phase of his plan. Nevertheless, their flawless survival through the laser barrage of the two Feists concluded a very successful first part, and he was really confident things would work out. Then, as if by a wicked desire of the Gods, misfortune struck. Something was wrong with the ship’s impulse engine. This was probably due to their current extreme maneuvers, not to mention their long journey across the High-Risk Zone. It was all starting to take a toll on the small-sized component and thus the entire vessel. “Wenn, whatever you are preparing, do it now. Our engine is not holding up, and if it blows, we are as good as dead.” The console was a blinding sea of yellow warning lights. “Updated analysis shows the chance of victory in combat as 1%, and the chance of escaping is 2%.” The A.I casually commented. Wenn didn’t answer at first. He was almost done finishing the setup for their escape. The warp drive slowly started its charge, giving them time to prepare for the jump. But first, he would need to drop some countermeasures and lure the Tufa into lowering their shields for a bit. He would need to make them send another barrage of energy attacks. The BTOL sophisticated scan revealed to Wenn that the enemy ships were basic Tufa Feist models, equipped with only the three standard laser weapons on the hardpoints and the typical missile bay. Their only countermeasures were some anti-missile apparel. “Yago, I’m sending you a location on the terrain just a few miles out of the field’s border. There is an enormous asteroid there, and we will need to hide behind it in about 30 seconds. You will receive my signal for the maneuver, and I will trigger all our countermeasures. Then we just start the jump and pray. Get ready.” Yago opened his mouth to protest but closed it again. His attention focused on doing what he was told to do: trying to keep the ship together for the needed amount of time, and — though the gods will laugh — somehow attempting a warp jump in the middle of the asteroid field. 25 seconds. The enemy’s weapons started shining again. This time, Wenn didn’t fire. His hands waited patiently on the trigger for the right moment — just before the enemy attack — to unleash his first countermeasure. 20 seconds. You could hear the sound of the warp charging, and one second before the next barrage of lasers started, the world around the BTOL turned white. 15 seconds. The light emitted by the ship was like the explosion of a sun. As the enemies focused their energy on their weapons, their shields could not prevent the blinding flash that followed, making them temporarily blinded. 10 seconds. A few seconds after the blinding light, an EMP missile exploded, jamming the radars and communications of the Tufa Feists. 5 seconds. After just passing the Asteroid, Yago used all his ability and pulled what MUD literature called “the Pugachev maneuver,” making the ship stop really close to the giant asteroid, hidden by the celestial body. 1 second. “It won’t be enough, Wenn! Even with their radars jammed, they will come searching for us in a few seconds, and there won’t be enough time for the jump! Even if that wouldn’t kill us!” Yago shouted. “Full power to the shields!” Wenn yelled as he pushed the manual lever, leaving only enough energy for the space jump. He wasn’t sure his calculations were correct, as he had never been so deep in space, and the celestial charts weren’t precise about their sector, but there wasn’t any other option. After the initial shock caused by the sudden blindness and the EMP effects, the Tufa started moving again. As soon as the 30 seconds passed, a new BTOL seemed to materialize in the distance. It appeared that their vessel had just kept flying straight for those who were blinded. The two Tufa passed at their maximum speed through the asteroid, eyes on the illusion created by the drone set by Wenn. “You are a freaking genius, Wenn. Really. I won’t even be mad if we die now. I will congratulate you in the after-life!” The Mierese shouted. “I’d rather you brew me some of your exotic beverages in this life, though.” Wenn replied with a smile of his own: “Get ready, brother, we are almost there.” He added. The ship’s warp drive surged with power. The shields were on maximum output, which would hopefully be enough to protect them from the few asteroids ahead of them. The Tufas quickly realized that they were being played and maneuvered their ships to enact vengeance on their cheeky prey. They both set their missiles, aiming to completely destroy the Busan Thrill of Life. The missiles flew at an impressive speed. “See you around, losers.” Yago managed to say. But just then the world around them turned into a blur of speed, light, and darkness… WEEKLY PROJECT REPORT See the current Project Report status and the entire Star Atlas Roadmap here. ECOS Crafting the Future: Star Atlas Roadmap Scan #04
enjoi posted a news entry in Star Atlas's Star Atlas News
Diary of the Druid of ECOS — “Cultivating” the Fimbul ECOS Superphoenix. Factions at movement Building the future /// Metaverse in Light Speed Expansion /// Immersive Blockchain-Powered UE5 Experience “The Titan needed to not waste a single round of ammo. As soon as its shadow covered the entire horizon of the world, our fleet was destroyed. If not physically, in every other possible manner.” — General Pac.Eldr — Memories of the Convergence War” This is beautiful. I had outdone myself once more, I realized, without a single drop of humility, as I moved my feet two steps back to watch the huge module component I had built for my baby. Then, mother nature’s twisted sense of humor thought it was time to teach me a lesson, and I fell from the platform. My journey began pleasantly enough. I could see the ceiling of the dome, the flawless geometric design, the intricate shapes that let just the right amount of light enter and bring life to the world under it. Then came the end. The impact slammed the air from my lungs. I could hear Brikda, my best friend and protector, screaming. “Druid!!! Druid!! Are you ok?!” She came rumbling in my direction like only a 300 hundred kilo rocky colossal could. The exosuit I used to help me with the construction took most of the blow. Aside from the initial scare, only my pride was hurt, but I knew I had to work fast. Otherwise, the force of Brikda heavy strides would be my end. An end full of motherly love, but an end for sure. “I’m ok!” I half screamed and coughed as my air returned. “Everything is ok,” I said, waving my hand as I felt the comfort of grass under my back. “Are you ok, Alicia?” she said in a whisper, making sure that no one would be able to hear her saying my real name. “Yeah, you absolute meteorite!” I said with a smile and threw a punch at her shoulder. “It would be better if you didn’t cause extinction on impact,” I laughed. Upon seeing that I was fine, she visibly relaxed and pulled me from the comfortable grass bed up to my feet without much effort. Then, adopting a serious look, she said: “The leader sent me to fill you in about the ATMTA weekly report. It seems they are holding to their part of the deal.” After looking up for a bit, she asked: “Did you finish building the prototype of the Impulse Engine component?” I could hear in her tone that she doubted the diligence of my work. “What do you think?” I asked. When she stubbornly didn’t answer, I added: “I just completed this beauty while the others were at lunch. It’s incredible what one can do when properly motivated by hunger, Brikda. Don’t you have something for me over there?” I said, envying the goodies she was carrying in a side bag, which — let’s be honest — were probably for me anyway. She smiled as she handed me the bag. How could such a loving creature like Brikda be known as the Cataclysm’s Scourge? That was beyond me. For all that I know, the Tufa was one of the most gentle creatures in existence. We both started walking through the beautiful field of the biosphere. I had designed this particular dome myself and was pretty happy with how we managed to stabilize a living ecosystem at such a massive scale. “So,” I started, my mouth filled with the sweet bread made with heirloom wheat harvested in our dome fields, “did you say ATMTA sent us their weekly report, like, the real report?” I asked, not believing they would share it with us. “It seems so. At least for the time being, they seem to be holding the terms of the collaboration with us perfectly. It appears they valued your considerations regarding their new missile module,” Brikda guessed. “I’m not so sure,” I stated. “Perhaps ATMTA already knows about what we are doing here?” The idea chilled me to the bone. If someone outside of ECOS knew that we were building our own Titan, the consequences would be… unpredictable, to say the least. This could trigger a large-scale war. “I don’t think so,” Brikda opined. “ATMTA is entwined with the Council of Peace to the core. If they knew that we were building the Titan right now, you would see that ustur himself flying his fleet to our doorstep.” “But don’t worry,” she said, preparing to pat me on my head. “I would never allow that risk to come close to you.” I knew she meant it, for Brikda had been by my side for as long as I could remember. She was my mother in every way possible. “Haha, stop! I’m not a child anymore!” I said, laughing and evading her heavy hand. “Before you get all emotional and rocks start rolling from your eyes, tell me, what were the updates ATMTA shared with us?” Brikda didn’t want me to see the holographic transmission, so she made her way towards the nearest pond as she played it between her massive arms. I followed as best I could. “Well, they started their communication with the Showroom,” she began. “As you know, ATMTA is nearing completion of that project, and they have some thrilling updates.” Soon I was sitting by the edge of the small lake, seeing my reflection in the water. I was generally happy with what I saw. Ok, my light-brown hair was half out of its ponytail, and the engineering outfit didn’t exactly fit my slender frame, but I was nevertheless confident in the lines of my grease-filled face and the Earth-blue/golden brown mix of my eyes. Before delving further into the beauty of my reflection, I took an apul to the head. “Ouch!! That hurts, you brute!” I lashed out. “Next time, I’m throwing a jaca,” she said emotionlessly. “Now proceeding, they sent us the complete log of updates, which you can access later by clicking on the roadmap update link that I sent you, but regarding the Showroom per se, it’s every day filled with more life, as you can see in those files. Attention to detail /// Metaverse in Light Speed Expansion /// Immersive Blockchain-Powered UE5 Experience The holograms that appeared in front of me were indeed impressive. ATMTA’s attention to detail was no joke. “Maybe they would be interested in sharing some of that technology. I could use this level of art for the project of the desert biosphere.” “Unlikely. I’m surprised that they even shared those images with us. This is not usual. Maybe they will send us a video next time, but I can’t imagine them sharing the technology. Or will they?”” she replied, looking at the people passing nearby. After a few seconds, she added: “From what we uncovered last week, the most exciting update is that the user interface general system, including the buttons/pop-ups/windows, ship placement, and pad assignments are progressing well on the tests.” I commanded my engineering exosuit to come back into cubic form and jumped into the lake’s water before my friend could object. It was perfect, not cold nor warm, and I started to float in the calm water while again admiring the ceiling. It was a new kind of glass. Not sure of the specifics, but the sand used in its production came together with components of deep space. The ustur responsible for this part of the project swore that nothing in this galaxy short of another titan could destroy it. The hexagonal design also further enhanced the strength of the whole structure and looked pretty cool. That moment, a giant jaca slammed into the water, just two hands to the right side of my head. “What the hell, Brickda! What if that actually hit me?” I protested, trying to throw water at her. “Unfortunately, we will never know since I missed.” She said with the saddest face a Tufa could muster. After a few seconds she restarted: “Since I have your attention now, let me talk about the Galactic Marketplace.” She started talking while suppressing a smile as my efforts of throwing water were failing miserably. “The Galactic Marketplace had an exciting week from what I see here. The audit and the Atlas Staking prototype are ongoing. At the same time, the User Experience and the front end are finally ready for internal user testing. After that, they will probably work on the feedback received and start, in the following weeks, the next stage of implementation.” Hmm.. I tried to calculate the implications of this movement, but nothing obvious occurred to me, so I nodded to Brika as a sign for her to keep going. “They also sent pieces of information about the DAO. Yeah, you are right. They opened their hearts to us, which I had never heard of regarding ATMTA. Among the many progress logs, they even shared the latest developments. Here check it out:” The hologram showed the following message: a) User Experience Design: All sections but the Lockers are completed. Looking for the last details on the lockers. b) Blockchain: On-chain program is close to completion. We both stood there in silence, our minds on the work. My central hypothesis was that the developments were outdated or that they would come asking for something else. “This might be linked with the movements of other factions, Alicia.” She said in a grave tone. Unfortunately, it’s been ages since we got any proper update from our spies at the COP or the other factions. Maybe they knew something that we didn’t. Yeah… the ATMTA CEO had a reputation for knowing everything that happened in the galaxy. That’s why we couldn’t understand his motivations. Everything but our Titan, growing hidden in a location that I don’t dare disclose even in thought, as even those are not safe nowadays. “You might be right,” I answered. “Well, tell me what else they shared.” While enjoying a few more precious moments in the water. “They also sent us a report about SCREAM and System Polishing. On the first, they continue to refine the three programs that they have been prototyping on the Blockchain front. They also started a new blockchain program while updating SCREAM blockchain architecture based on refinements to gameplay mechanics. They have also completed SCREAM outliner in the User Interface front and are now adding Gameplay Depth to WebGL proof of concept. On the System Polishing side, they have fixed the bug where the ledger address path changed, implemented updated unit tests and refactored the cookies and Legal Models/VM. Another upcoming feature is that they are implementing extra cranks, which facilitate transaction processing across the network, for resources market reliability and a banner that displays Solana’s transactions reliability.” “Interesting developments from ATMTA…” I thought to myself. They have been onboarding people every week, as my connections told me. It seems as if they are preparing for a new moment. Perhaps we all are, every faction, every DAC, everyone is feeling that something is coming. No use thinking about that though, I reckoned, while I got out of the water. Then, a burst of inspiration came to me, like it always did when I felt pressured. I realized it was time for us to get back to work. I called Brikda. Once out of the lake, I activated the exosuit and we walked to the transport station and beyond to the next biosphere. What we were building here was a place for everyone, from everywhere, to work together with nature in peace. “It’s scary, Brikda.” I said almost in a whisper. “I think the Council of Peace, they have the power, the Polis, and have deceived millions of citizens who sleep peacefully every night, resting on the remains of a galaxy their leaders tore apart in their wars. “But we won’t let the other factions rule the galaxy and destroy nature as they please — especially Gotti and their people who left Earth as a lifeless husk in our hands.” I added, feeling the hate burning in my interior, using fear as fuel. “We won’t be denied, Brikda.” I said while looking at the luxurious rainforest of the next biosphere through the glass of the solar powered transportation. “Should the COP, or any other faction try to stop us, they will find my baby ready for them soon.” Weekly Project Report See the full report in the Official Star Atlas Roadmap here. (initially posted on discord by Santi) Technical community update: This message addresses the situation with failing blockchain transactions for Toolkit purchases in the Galactic Marketplace at Play.staratlas.com that many community members are experiencing while playing SCORE. Working with engineers at Solana, we have determined that the reason for transaction failures are difficulties in the wider blockchain network itself. More specifically, hundreds of thousands of largely duplicate transactions per second that are being sent across the network for validation by bots, causing congestion. This causes some transactions over a certain limit of data size or requiring time-sensitive information to fail, and one such transaction is the Toolkit one. We are working on solving the issue in two ways: We are in the process of implementing an informational banner in our Marketplace that will show users a real-time health and status of the Solana network and enable our community to receive instant feedback on the likelihood of success of their transactions. We are also in touch with the Solana network, which is working on important blockchain upgrades, the first one being rolled out in early May and aiming to bring a long-term solution to chain congestion. Thank you for your continued patience and support in resolving the issue. We will keep you updated as the situation evolves. Power to the people!

(originally posted in the Star Atlas Medium) Recorded conversation of Lieutenant Wenn and Agent M4 aboard Unity BTOL x4: Memories of the past and updated field report for the mission. Memories of the past /// Metaverse in Light-speed Expansion /// Immersive Blockchain-powered UE5 Experience “In the game of creation, good and evil are not the players, but just another two pieces.” — Odette, Matron of Oxir After encountering Mr. Sbugolz on Liblit, M4 (known to ordinary space explorers as Yago) and Wenn turned their Busan-made Thrill of Life toward the deeper reaches of the High-Risk Zone. Their next objective was the territories under the direct influence of Jorvik pirates. Soon enough, they would need to tread very carefully, even with the ‘invitation’ on Wenn’s arm. “I swear, Wenn, if I had to hear that KIKIKI again for five more breaths, I would fry that Punaab and use him as bait for the Peli of Drey,” said M4, mimicking himself catching one of the famous fish on the spa planet. A quick smile found its way to the Lieutenant’s face. He remembered how the Punaab would spill thousands of profanities every time his friend mentioned the word ‘hero’. They had delivered Mr. Sbugolz, his henchman, and their escort to one of the many safe houses that ATMTA had secured on different moons and stations across deep space. Fun fact: the ustur were not called Henchman 1 and Henchman 2, but instead had very proper ustur names, Pock.iddt and Swer.iddt. “Wenn, I see some curious patterns in the outer part of this system, should we be concerned?” The agent asked while looking at the console. Lieutenant Wenn was lost in thought. “Wenn? Wenn, Weeennnnnn, answer me, Wenn!” said M4, poking Wenn’s face. Wenn slapped Mierese’s hand. “Yeah, huh, sorry. Was wondering about how all this is playing out,” said Wenn, his eyes still fixed on the horizon. Yago could see that somber look that Wenn’s face would get when he started to think too deeply. Yago had seen the Lieutenant look like this too often since he’d joined ATMTA roughly one year ago. Yago was beginning to worry about his childhood friend. “What’s wrong, Wenn? Are you trying to scare the Thionae with your glare? I’m afraid that won’t do the trick. I guess you’d need something on the Titan level to have a shot at him,” Yago said with a hint of a smile. Wenn’s expression softened at the mention of the legendary being. “We had this conversation before, Yago. There is no such thing as the Thionae.” Wenn dismissed his friend’s idea with a smile of his own. “Says the oh-so-knowledgeable Lieutenant Wenn. But I will let you know that my friend’s cousin knew someone who swears having seen it eating one of the Jorvik patrols, and it wasn’t pretty,” Yago affirmed in a severe tone. “OK, I can’t argue with such a reliable source. You can mark me convinced,” said Wenn with all the sarcasm he could muster. Silence filled the modern Busan ship, but after about thirty seconds, it was interrupted by the soft voice of the ship’s computer: “Good afternoon, agents. ATMTA sends you the development report. Please open the link here for the complete information, or should you prefer, I can run through the most relevant updates.” Agent M4 quickly intervened: “Please read out only the most relevant ones” and then continued: “Wenn… do you remember how we met? Two lonely kids in the dumpsters of the Salvage Yards, bruised, hungry, and cold. But look at us now, though! True heroes! Like the ones in the stories you had read to us so many years ago!” Yago said with a genuine smile. Wenn didn’t answer immediately, unfastening his seat belt and making a few steps to put his mind at ease with a mug of Ko’fy. The soothing smell of the warm, ancestral drink of the human race filled the room before Wenn answered: “To be completely honest with you, Yago, I have my doubts.” He handed the Mierese a steaming hot cup before proceeding. “We have indeed left the Salvage Yards, but I’m not sure the Salvage Yards left us…” Wenn said while looking out at the beautiful horizon of colors that shone in the stars. Yago quickly changed into a mix of confusion and concern for his friend’s grave tone, but before he could reply, the computer’s smooth voice said: “First update — Showroom. The pride and joy of ATMTA is reaching its final building stages. Elegance, sophistication, and interactivity are the words chosen by our engineers when describing the beautiful, Unreal Engine 5 world that unfolds before our client’s eyes, as you can see from the following image: Night skies over the Showroom /// Unreal Engine 5 Enabled Metaverse /// A cycle of immersion nears completion “ Wow…” Both reacted as the hologram of the Showroom appeared in front of them. The computer AI continued: “The most relevant update of the week is the user experience on the blockchain front, which is complete, together with the required wireframes.” As the voice ceased, Yago questioned with a hint of preoccupation in his voice: “What do you mean about the Salvage Yards still being with us?” Wenn paused for a second, trying to organize his thoughts, then proceeded: “Yago, do you remember when we found the old data logs, and we managed to uncover the stories about heroes?” “Yeah, sure! Those are by far the happiest memories I have of those days. Even though we all struggled a lot, your tales kept everyone going. Xannah especially smiled whenever you mimicked the villain’s voices,” the Mierese said, himself smiling gently. Wenn felt as if daggers were piercing his heart at the mention of Xannah’s name, but he took a deep breath and answered: “If I could go back in time, I would never have opened those records. Those fairy tales deluded us, Yago. Making us think that good and evil are the two principal acting forces in the universe and that good would always triumph.” The Lieutenant progressed, full of resentment and without a pause, as if spilling every sentence: “We live in a prosperous space age, where the marvels of technology enable us to build colossal vessels that dwarf some planets, yet do you know what didn’t change, Yago?” “Morals.” “Humans, Mierese, Ustur, Punaabs, and every other race in the universe has the same moral standards my ancestors had in those fairy tales we loved. Greed, Yago, it seems to be engraved in mortal beings’ souls, as if POLIS was the only true creed of existence.” Yago looked into the eyes of his old friend, and although his face showed hatred, his pupils did not lie about the contents of his heart. Desperation. Yago suddenly realized how deep Wenn still kept the pain of their past under all the analytical tone and coolness of his manner. The boy who had lost everything in the Salvage Yards 14 years ago was still there. Before Yago could say anything, the voice of the console announced: “Second update — Galactic Marketplace. The main gateway into ATMTA goods and services, we hope to offer the galaxy the most exciting and user-friendly experience in technology acquisitions. This week we have some exciting updates!” As soon as the console finished his refined sales pitch, five simple words appeared in a hologram: ATLAS Staking Program Building Started. The console continued: “One of our most sought features, the Atlas Staking program building, has officially started. This entails that we will now submit the marketplace program for an audition while creating mock-up data in devnet to prepare for the front-end/blockchain connection.” A small piece of Wenn’s mind was feeling proud of those developments. He worked hard for the ATLAS Staking in his time at ATMTA, but the overwhelming guilt denied him from celebrating anything. “Wenn, it’s not your fault. Nothing that happened that day was your fault. However, what you are saying is only partially true. The COP, even though not perfect, has brought an age of prosperity and relative peace to the galaxy. Although there are undoubtedly many villains, there are also heroes, like the one who saved us after that day,” Yago added, without a hint of the playful Mierese that was his customary manner. “Third update — System Polishing.” Most onboard computers are programmed to avoid interrupting conversation, but this one seemed to actively seek it out. “ATMTA is always striving to provide the best experience for their users, and System Polishing ensures that we are doing better for you every day!” “Here are the relevant updates of this week: Bugfix: Marketplace orders placed with three decimals of precision appear to be successful when they are not. Features: Cookie enhancements and Torus wallet integration,” the AI cheerfully said. Wenn replied to his friend, talking over the computer update: “I certainly can’t deny that there are forces of good in the universe, such as you, Clonk, and Pethros, who sheltered and educated us, giving us a purpose after everything was gone. But you guys are the exception that confirms the rule, I’m afraid.” “Regarding the COP, even though their ideas are noble, the crushing reality is that their so-called safe zones only encompass a minor part of the galaxy, amassing wealth only in those regions. Yet other areas scrape for a few ATLAS. They are also not in any way a monolithic formation of good beings. You would be ashamed at what I heard regarding the outer world’s denizens at the Officer’s Academy of the COP–” The AI suddenly spoke, now in a louder tone, saying: “Lieutenant Wenn, as established in the code of conduct of ATMTA employees, article 324, section I, it is strictly prohibited to ignore the announcements of ATMTA industries during peaceful travel. Please pay attention. This is considered a warning with legal ramifications.” While not caring to hear an answer, the insolent AI continued as if nothing had happened, switching back to a cheerful tone: “Fourth update — SCREAM. One of ATMTA’s hottest products, the project with the code name SCREAM will allow our players to have meaningful progression with ships and work together within their faction to achieve shared goals. SCREAM prioritizes community-building by working with factions through fun use of vessels, immersive 3D graphics, and closed-loop gameplay.” After what almost seemed like an intentionally dramatic short pause, the AI added: “The most relevant feature for this week’s update is that we are on week three of the prototyping of SCREAM while also onboarding ATMTA Sr. Director of Economy and the Director of User interface to collaborate with SCREAM development. Wenn breathed, waiting for the console to end, before saying: “You are wrong, Yago. I sincerely appreciate the fact that you don’t hold me accountable for what happened with Xannah and Clonk, but it was my fault. If I hadn’t babbled on that day at the fair, those Bounty Hunters would never have discovered us in the Salvage Yard. This is an objective fact, and nothing that you say will change this.” “I don’t understand humans at all,” thought Yago. The lamenting Lieutenant in front of him couldn’t accept that fate had placed him in this situation so that he would rise again to claim his rightful place. Nothing he did could have changed this, the Mierese knew, because some events are in the domain of the Almighty Ones. “The will of the gods can’t be changed, Wenn. Their fate on that day was written in advance. But, for better or worse, we all have a role to play in the grand plot of the universe, and ours is the role of the heroes. The sooner you accept this, the better.” The Mierese tried to soften the delivery of the harsh truth with a smile. “Fifth update — POLIS DAO.” The computer said, and Wenn could swear he could feel a boastfully victorious tone coming from the AI voice: “ATMTA state of the art protocol for galactic governance. Those interested in exercising power will be able to submit proposals and exercise voting rights on public submissions. Additionally, once deployed, those wielding POLIS power will be allowed to engage in a variety of contracts in line with their political resolve, both short and long term, and earn in-game yield along a curve based on the maturity of stake.” “This week, the most relevant update for the DAO project is that the reward algorithm details are complete while we have onboarded yet another engineer to the project,” the console chirped jovially. “This completes yet another successful transmission.” Wenn’s outlook wasn’t as bright. “I wish I could accept such a comforting way of comprehending reality, Yago, but I’m no hero.” Wenn sat with a blank face. A faint “ping” sound emitted by the ship’s radar quickened in pace, pulling him back to the present. He scanned the controls. “We’ve got company.” Weekly Project Report See the full report in the Official Star Atlas Roadmap here. See previous weekly reports here. Star Atlas: Guilds, Ship Drop, and Weekly Updates
enjoi posted a news entry in Star Atlas's Star Atlas News
(originally posted here: https://medium.com/star-atlas/the-atlas-star-issue-5-60af7ed85101) A tale about building a new world… Destruction and Creation — The Emergence of a New World /// Triple-AAA Metaverse Work in Progress /// Immersive Unreal Engine 5 Experience Attention, Deep Space Explorers! We are so excited to bring you the legendary Atlas Star ✧, the official Star Atlas newsletter wherein you will find a treasure trove of recent developments in the making of a metaverse as well as our vision for the future, our values, achievements, and exciting content emerging in the common dream we share with our community. It’s been a while since we took you on our latest Atlas Star journey, so to make sure you are up to speed with the state of the metaverse, we want to share a refresher on our vision for this extraordinary world in the making. Our Vision The DACs of Star Atlas — Our Diamond at the Center of the Galaxy Star Atlas is the tale of a shared dream, a dream of a decentralized Metaverse built horizontally rather than vertically, with governance dispersed across the different philosophies that compose our community. It’s also a tale of teamwork and rallying together under a shared purpose. In essence, it’s a tale about our guilds. Community gameplay is a core feature of the Star Atlas Metaverse. This becomes clear in the different instances of proposed gameplay disclosed in the white and economic papers of the project. From the various layers of political governance to the sophisticated economy that requires different and specialized skill sets to function appropriately, whenever we think about any macro objective in Star Atlas, we are thinking about the coordinated efforts of a group of players and a variety of inhabitants in the future metaverse. It’s not just any kind of coordination, though. The innate economic nature of the assets in Star Atlas takes the central value of human relationships to a whole new level when we are talking about groups of players. Trust. It’s possible, especially in your early days of Star Atlas, that you might cooperate casually with different players that you will encounter in the safe zones of the cosmos. But, in the long run, especially in gameplay of the medium and high risk zones, it’s advisable to find a group of players you can trust. Hence, the DACs (Guilds) are necessary for the Star Atlas Metaverse ecosystem to function properly. In the long history of online MMOs, the Guilds have become a haven for their members, a place where like-minded individuals share experiences, victories, defeats, and, most of all, fun. Star Atlas plans to take this concept to a whole new level, providing the Guilds with structural tools never before seen in the history of our industry. Those tools will enable the different organizations to leverage their gameplay capabilities in a permission-less manner. This document will detail our vision regarding the guild gameplay structures and features. The Deep Dive: Guild Governance and Customization The cornerstone of guild gameplay design is based on the understanding that every guild is one of a kind, in the same way that every individual is unique. Therefore, the Metaverse of Star Atlas will offer an extensive range of tools to enable players to construct — in-game and on-chain — their Guild structure of governance. You can expect most of the classical features that most MMOs offer in their in-game structure, like implementing taxes on the player’s earnings to fund the guild, different roles inside the guild structure to enable or disable certain governance perks, etc. We’re also developing new aspects of gameplay. First of all, we want our guilds to be able to choose how their governance will work. This means the players in a guild can choose how power will be distributed among guild members. Every model, from players in the guild having the right to vote on any use of the guild treasury to guild representation determination by the possession of guild coins acquired from activities that benefit the guild or any other criteria, will be valid and in-game supported. We want our community to have the most freedom possible in designing the rules in their own homes to reflect their values and gameplay styles. From the most anarchical pirates to the most centralized corporation, Star Atlas will provide the tools to build your ideal guild. Political Power and Guild Roles in the Metaverse of Star Atlas One of the most exciting structures in Star Atlas is the political framework that permeates the whole Metaverse. After a bloody war that wreaked havoc across the galaxy, the three main factions, MUD, ONI, and USTUR, laid down their weapons, creating the Council of Peace (COP), an organization responsible for maintaining peace and order throughout the galaxy. Yet, how long will peace last? Many factions, like the Jorvik and Echos, openly defy the mandates of the COP, not abiding by the status quo set by the large coalition of Star Atlas and recruiting players and Guilds to join their ranks. Also, even the factions are not monolithic institutions. Each of them has their apostles of war, ambitioning for their agendas, the treasures at the center of the galaxy, where exotic dangers also lie in wait. The critical question is, how will your guild engage in this complex, multi-layered political game? Will your DAC strive for one of the prestigious seats of the COP advisories? Will you side with the ‘outlaw’ factions in the hopes of dismantling the order created by the COP? Will you be politically agnostic? Those are just the first answers that you will need to give since this is just the beginning of the Political Gameplay in Star Atlas. Aside from the macro politics, Regional Daos and Faction Daos will significantly impact the guild’s activities in each solar system. Finding enough support to control one of them might be the key to your success in Star Atlas. We will also develop a system where the guild members will be able to vote on any given proposition as one to maximize the political power of its institution according to the guild design. Be careful though with what you say and do because other players and institutions of Star Atlas will always be watching, ready to capitalize on opportunities… The Economic Role of the Guilds in the Star Atlas Metaverse The Guilds in Star Atlas also play a significant role in the economic organization of our Metaverse, especially on two fronts: a) The creation of enterprises focused on one or more in-game economic activities, employing human and in-game resources to develop the many different segments of the Star Atlas ecosystem. b) A link between the off-game enterprises that want exposure to the Star Atlas Metaverse, companies and brands looking to acquire lands and sell their goods or services inside Star Atlas, and the in-game world. Let us explore those two points. The In-game Economic Role of the Guilds We could say that the first one represents the most direct and vital function of the Guilds of Star Atlas, developing the game ecosystem through the advancement and improvement of their activities. The economy in Star Atlas works similarly to real life. For example, suppose the guilds, regions or factions want to prosper and expand their influence and economic power. Therefore, they need to invest in infrastructure and efficiently deploy their assets to acquire revenue and bring development to their people. Guilds are the foundation of this system in Star Atlas. It’s the primary institution in the organization of our community as part of the economic system, coordinating efforts to acquire resources and transform them into goods and services for the rest of the ecosystem. This coordination is especially vital to Star Atlas due to the skill progression system. Most meaningful activities in Star Atlas generate experience points for players, which through accrual helps them progress in the skill tree path of that activity. The farther you progress in any given skill tree, the more proficient you become in that task. Let us use the mining skill as an example. At the beginning of your career as a miner, you won’t be particularly efficient in finding and accessing the treasures of the depths. In the beginning, the nodes that you will manage to identify will be the most simple ones, the time required to extract the ore will be long, and the quantity and quality of your work will be low. As you spend more time doing your task, you will naturally hone your skills, becoming more efficient while also acquiring perks unavailable for players who have not grinded the long hours in the mines. Here is the key: there are only so many hours to play, and the skill progression system is being built in a manner to reward the dedication of the players to their career paths, which means that you won’t be able to be good at everything. That is ok. This is where guild coordination becomes necessary. No single individual will be able to craft the exotic ships of the Photoli; a whole supply chain depends on many specialized individuals to build our most complex assets. Every single aspect of the economy of Star Atlas is interlaced with different types of specializations, so you will surely need the expertise of other players to build meaningful things in Star Atlas. That’s why you will need your guild with you. The Economic Role of the Guilds in our Metaverse The second point is just as crucial as the first, but it’s focused on another angle of our project experience: the Metaverse. We are focused on delivering a wide variety of tools for our gaming experience. Star Atlas is like a vast canvas and we plan on offering our community an expansive palette of colors, brushes, techniques, and materials that they can use to make their most epic paintings. Yet, even if we developed tools day and night for Star Atlas for a decade, it’s nothing compared to the potential contributions that third parties will make to the Metaverse. We are talking about our community contributions and those from companies, businesses, and members from the many different industries who want to participate in the vibrant ecosystem that the Star Atlas Metaverse will become. Take, for example, Fabricant, a Metaverse exclusive fashion company, which already launched its first collection for Star Atlas. Imagine the fashion industry’s role in a Metaverse focused on emulating the complexity of social relationships in a worldwide digital environment. We foresee, for example, different guilds hiring different brands and companies to design their members’ uniforms, a way of branding their presence in our Metaverse, and a mechanism of social cohesion. The art industry is another example of endless possibilities. Star Atlas will be able to create worlds within worlds. Should you want a quiet afternoon after a day of work, enjoying the relief of a live show performance in a bar while watching through your ship window the birth of a Star, our community efforts will make it possible for you. For the right price in Atlas, of course. The parallel services focused on entertainment across Metaverse features are the kind of economy we hope to enable together with the in-game economy. To make this work, we are building a toolset that, once deployed, will allow for permissionless, or DAO-permissioned, development of extra-game economic activity. At that point, extra-game companies will need to find a way to bridge their capital and assets into the game to rent land, acquire the game coins, create their operations, and hire personnel — all in a decentralized manner. This function will be, in our vision, filled by the guilds. Therefore, the off-game companies will naturally seek the most structured guilds to work as intermediaries in their Metaverse investments. They might even sponsor those aligned with their company values in a professional esports game manner. It’s also worth noting that Star Atlas DACs could, in a decentralized manner, mint their own coins or take other steps to raise capital to maximize their gameplay impact in Star Atlas. We, the Star Atlas team, are building flexible and decentralized software infrastructure to enable such activities in a permissionless manner, although naturally any DACs engaging in these activities will need to comply with their respective legal obligations when doing so. It takes time to build the software infrastructure to enable the permissionless entry of assets from third parties inside Star Atlas. Still, we will indeed be providing modules and tools that allow, for example, you to order your favorite pizza inside Star Atlas and it will reach your home still hot! Functionalities for guild gameplay To create a robust guild ecosystem, the Star Atlas team is developing the following structures for its community: a) A secure in-game platform that will allow for guild customization regarding its governance, treasury management, and POLIS voting. b) A framework that would empower DACs to issue their own governance tokens. c) A guild competitive ranking which will reflect in gameplay structures such as participating in the lower chamber of the COP meetings in the lore of the Star Atlas Metaverse. We will strive to make this high-level competitive content with different forms of rewards for the most successful guilds in the many other Star Atlas gameplay styles. Updates The team has been moving quickly on multiple fronts. Our community has provided valuable feedback, including questions about the development of our many exciting projects, such as the Showroom, the DAO, SCREAM, and many others. Communication The Atlas Brew Every Wednesday our team members Santiacc and ZeSKK and members of the community bring their favorite ‘brews’ (optional) and hang out together. Through this live and informal discussion via the Discord voice channel, we chat about the most exciting features of the Star Atlas Metaverse. In addition, the Atlas Brew crew often invites extraordinary surprise guests from the team to talk about their epic projects. Roadmap Reports Recently, we introduced the Ustur Executive Surveyor Report: Star Atlas Roadmap Scan #01, a document that encloses the development of our most relevant projects in detail while also providing some stimulating lore background to the community. The community quickly embraced the initiative, so we published a second report: the ONI Shadow Ops Mission Report Star Atlas Roadmap Scan #02 in which the community learned about the roadmap progress and the dangers that lurk in the different worlds of Star Atlas. Another highlight of this month was the Showroom module gameplay video which you can watch by clicking here. Again, it’s satisfying for us to see our Metaverse unfolding, piece by piece, in the beautiful Unreal Engine 5 environment. These two initiatives generated positive feedback so we’ll continue to share the adventures of ATMTA Industries and its employees regularly while supplying our community with reports, videos and the arts of our evolving world. This week we will be distributing our weekly report here within the Atlas Star, so we will let Lieutenant Wenn and Agent M4 rest for a while before taking on their next mission. Here we will highlight the main progress of this month, including the latest developments of the roadmap. If you want to jump right there, please click on the following link: full roadmap update. Summary of developments First of all, let’s have a look at the following information that we disclosed over the past few months: GAO Phase 2 We started a new wave of ship drops, filling our universe with more beautiful creations from different manufacturers! We’ve also started giving the community the power to determine the order of new releases via voting windows. We recently delivered the following ships: *Seat belts not included. Fimbul Air Bike — An entry ship racing ship from the Fimbul manufacturer that is born to be wild. It will be too late by the time you hear the whirring Sound. Ogrika Mik — An agile and deadly fighter with elegant aesthetics, a combination that can only come from Ogrika Industries. Boom! Fimbul ECOS Unibomba — Also known as the Ball of Death by our community, this single-pilot ship packs quite the punch with its single but deadly bomb bay. The good news: you most likely won’t need to fire twice. Let’s take this beauty for a ride! Fimbul Lowbie — If you want to stand out in a crowd while riding in comfort, the Lowbie scores high in style points and is sure to turn heads. Cruising the galaxy will never be the same. Photoli magic at its finest. Rainbow Arc — We can always expect uniqueness when talking about Photoli designs, but the Rainbow Arc is a notch above your usual freighter. It comes packed with an engenius defense mechanism which allows it to combine its natural energy shield with deflecting plates, increasing your safety while lowering your stress levels! The Symphony of war Vzus Ballad — The first Capital Ship of its manufacturer. A fighter focused on dominating the battlefield through the strategical deployment of medium and small ships from its hangar. The Thrill of Life — and death. Busan Thrill of Life — The first of the Busan armada is a testimony to the exceptional shipbuilding craft of the Sogmians, this vessel is built for stealth strikes in tactical offensives. Also, by clicking here, you will find the full GAO Wave 2 brochure! On this wave, we continue with our plan to have 51 different ships launched by the end of 2022. The reason for this production push is to cover all of the various gameplay proposals for our project. We also aim to prepare our community with a steady supply of vessels as we strive to reach our target of 1 million players by the end of the year. Unreal Engine 5 Showroom — Weekly Update As mentioned in the introduction, we’ve made good progress on the Showroom front, and we were thrilled to share this 2:02 minute video with our community! The High-Risk Zone (HRZ) and Medium-Risk Zone (MRZ) gameplay article We also released a report about how the gameplay in Star Atlas HRZ and MRZ is currently envisioned. The article was produced with the collaboration of our community members, especially the Pirate Guilds, who brought invaluable insights! If you click here, you will find all about some of the dynamics we are planning to introduce, like: Bounty Hunting — One of our community’s most desired in-game activities, you will learn everything about how bounties are placed on players and NPCs and how to erase or collect them! PVP and Looting — The article also details how Player vs. Player combat will work in the different zones of Star Atlas and how it will allow players to acquire loot! Galactic Marketplace — Weekly Update Our Marketplace is going through some changes. The original design was pretty much like a typical crypto marketplace. This caused some degree of hardship for our users unfamiliar with the crypto market, so we updated the design to make it work as an actual game auction house. Keep your eyes open because we are constantly improving the marketplace experience. Check out this week’s progress: Project: Galactic Marketplace — Weekly Update Blockchain: BUILDING /// UX/UI: PROTOTYPING /// FRONT END: PROTOTYPING Updates: Atlas Staking specifications were approved, and we started architecting the program. /// Currently assisting front-end engineers with prototypes and ready to start preparing for user testing. /// Ongoing prototyping of the core user flow (3rd week). Upcoming activities: Once ATLAS staking design is approved, we’ll start implementing /// Strategize for user testing the prototype /// 3rd week of prototyping core user flow (ongoing iteration with UX / UI). The POLIS DAO The POLIS DAO is the top-level governance (universal for all players) that regulates the overall well-being of Star Atlas. This is a constant in the in-game economy and — in the long term — the Metaverse as a whole. Creating it is proving to be a worthy challenge. It’s one of the essential pillars of the project and the most security-sensitive one so far. Unfortunately, there is no roadmap to creating something this new and secure, but we continue to make great progress. Here is the latest: Project: DAO — Weekly Update UX/UI: PROTOTYPING /// Front End: PROTOTYPING /// Blockchain: BUILDING Updates: Finalizing wireframe and handoff to UI/UX integration with Solana./// Integrated reward snapshot program./// Building component libraries. A tale about building a new world… Destruction and Creation — The Emergence of a New World /// Triple-AAA Metaverse Work in Progress /// Immersive Unreal Engine 5 ExperienceAttention, Deep Space Explorers! Our VisionThe DACs of Star Atlas — Our Diamond at the Center of the GalaxyStar Atlas is the tale of a shared dream, a dream of a decentralized Metaverse built horizontally rather than vertically, with governance dispersed across the different philosophies that compose our community. The Deep Dive: Guild Governance and CustomizationThe cornerstone of guild gameplay design is based on the understanding that every guild is one of a kind, in the same way that every individual is unique. Political Power and Guild Roles in the Metaverse of Star AtlasOne of the most exciting structures in Star Atlas is the political framework that permeates the whole metaverse. After a bloody war that wreaked havoc across the galaxy, the three main factions, MUD, ONI, and USTUR, laid down their weapons and shields, creating the Council of Peace (COP), an organization responsible for maintaining peace and order throughout the galaxy. Yet, how long will peace last? Many factions, like the Jorvik and ECOS, openly defy the mandates of the COP, not abiding by the status quo set by the large coalition of Star Atlas and recruiting players and Guilds to join their ranks. Also, even the factions are not monolithic institutions. Each of them has their apostles of war, working towards their own agendas, the treasures at the center of the galaxy, where exotic dangers also lie in wait. Be careful though with what you say and do because other players and institutions of Star Atlas will always be watching, ready to capitalize on opportunities… The Economic Role of the Guilds in the Star Atlas metaverseThe Guilds in Star Atlas also play a significant role in the economic organization of our metaverse, especially on two fronts: a) The creation of enterprises focused on one or more in-game economic activities, employing human and in-game resources to develop the many different segments of the Star Atlas ecosystem. b) A link between the off-game enterprises that want exposure to the Star Atlas metaverse, companies and brands looking to acquire lands and sell their goods or services inside Star Atlas, and the in-game world. Let us explore those two points. The In-game Economic Role of the GuildsWe could say that the first one represents the most direct and vital function of the Guilds of Star Atlas, developing the game ecosystem through the advancement and improvement of their activities. The Economic Role of the Guilds in our MetaverseThe second point is just as crucial as the first, but it’s focused on another angle of our project experience: the metaverse. Take, for example, The Fabricant, a metaverse exclusive fashion company, which already launched its first collection in collaboration with Star Atlas. The parallel services focused on entertainment across the metaverse features are the kind of economy we hope to enable together with the in-game economy. To make this work, we are building a tool set that, once deployed, will allow for permissionless, or DAO-permissioned, development of extra-game economic activity. Functionalities for Guild GameplayTo create a robust guild ecosystem, the Star Atlas team is developing the following structures for its community: a) A secure in-game platform that will allow for guild customization regarding its governance, treasury management, and POLIS voting. b) A framework that would empower DACs to issue their own governance tokens. c) A guild competitive ranking which will reflect in gameplay structures such as participating in the lower chamber of the COP meetings in the lore of the Star Atlas Metaverse. We will strive to make this high-level competitive content with different forms of rewards for the most successful guilds in the many other Star Atlas gameplay styles. Contains updates to: Project: Showroom Alpha Project: Galactic Marketplace Project: System Polishing Project: SCREAM v1.0 Project: DAO (Initially posted on Medium https://medium.com/star-atlas/oni-shadow-ops-mission-report-star-atlas-roadmap-scan-02-53cc5f772b2c) Mission Log — as told by Shadow Ops, Agent M4 “It was a cloudless night in Liblit. The sky was a canvas full of colors from the rich planets and the moons that occupied the heavens this close to the center of the galaxy. Here, criminals worked under the cover of darkness. As one of the stations in the so-called high-risk zone, Liblit was well known as a place of thievery, illegal deeds, and every other activity that would constitute a crime under the Council of Peace regulations. If you were watching the movements in the streets that particular night, a young human, no more than 26 Earth years old, might have caught your eye. He made secretive glances as he passed the dark alleys, traversing into a decaying building that mimicked the style of the MUD pre-voyage era. There, the silhouette of an old Punaab, of above average size for his species, awaited him. Gray whiskers, a scar across his right eye, and a conniving wide grin left no room for doubt that this was Mr. Sbugolz — the very same character who was rumored to be an original member of the Freedom Smile, the ship captained by the Jorvik leader. The bounty on his head was 50 million ATLAS. Yeah… not the biggest fish in the sea, but hey, he was a fish nonetheless.” At this point, the Agent was interrupted by a very thin and angry voice that started to shout in the background: “NOT THE BIGGEST FISH?!” shouted a tied up Punaab. “You damned Mierese scum! I will have your Bahle come out through your mouth!” “Wow,” interjected the Mierese. “Language! Didn’t your mama teach you better than to interrupt your captor’s glorious mission report?” “Glorious mission report, KIKIKI?” said the Punaab, wheezing through his whiskers and laughing. “What are you, a freaking kid? Tell you what, you can report all about my bahl… Humpf!!!” The Mierese packed the Punaab’s mouth with the dirtiest piece of cloth he could find. “As much as I’d like to hear about your fixation with private parts, please wait a bit until I finish this, ok?” said the Mierese official. “Hrmm!!!! Hmmmpf!!!”, cried the muffled Punaab. “Oh, blessed silence. Now where was I? Oh right, so there he was, a seemingly nervous human just before the mighty Mr. Sbugolz, flanked by two not very friendly-faced ustur androids. Better now?” “Hmmm! Hmmph! Hmmmmm!!” The Punaab tried to answer. The agent of the Consortium was pretty sure it was another reference to the private bits. He shrugged and returned to his report. “The Punaab started the meeting by saying: “Well, well. Look what the cosmic currents brought to our shores, lads, kikiki!” While laughing profusely, Sbugolz looked at his henchmen. “Our very own spy! Leaking the juicy secrets of ATMTA Industries to our noble freedom cause, kiki! What a good little human! Isn’t that right, lads?” “That’s right, boss, affirmative!” said Henchman 1. “The very best boy, boss!” said Henchman 2. “KIKIKI, that’s right!” said the Punaab, sliding into a feeling of ecstasy. “The information you gave us last time was indeed very good! We managed to advance our agenda through the whole galaxy. The big boss was really pleased!” “Mostly pleased, boss!” said Henchman 1. “Very appeased, boss!” said Henchman 2. “But it was not enough,” said the furry pirate, suddenly changing the happy mood in the room. “We need more, Lieutenant Wenn! Tell us what you uncovered! My whiskers get all curly at the sound of a good old data robbing!” Wenn started: “Milord, beginning with The Marketplace, they are about to end the prototyping phase. From what I could gather, regarding the Blockchain front, their ATLAS staking program design is progressing well. They also moved to assist their front-end engineers in prototyping the core user flow, which is going full steam right now.” “For their Upcoming Activities, on that front, once the staking design is approved, they will start implementing it, while preparing a strategy for the users to test the prototype.” “KIKIKI, I LOVE THIS!” the Punaab shouted with glee. “Sweet ATLAS stakes to plunder, lads!” “This is a blessing, boss!” said Henchman 1. “A gift from the Makers, boss!” said Henchman 2. “But please, good lieutenant, do proceed. What else do you have for us?” asked the entertained villain. “Well, regarding the SCREAM Project, the team is still working on finishing the explicit requirements for the core gameplay mechanics. They have also started prototyping a new program for Blockchain architecture while they refine it with the gameplay requirements. In terms of the economic developments, they have onboarded the Director of Economy of ATMTA, who will work directly on the modeling of the gameplay economic loops. Finally, I uncovered that they are adding more functionality to WebGL prototypes and that they have also onboarded an additional front-end WebGL developer to project.” replied Wenn. “Intriguing… I suppose they will be working on those mechanics for the next week as well. Right, Wenn?” asked the pirate while scratching his chin. “You are correct, Milord.” answered the Lieutenant. “Very well then, move on.” replied the Jorvik, his tiny hand resting alongside his anxious face. “After that, I also found some new information regarding the Showroom”, said Wenn, restarting his report. “As I mentioned before, it’s well advanced, and they are working on some interesting details…” said the Lieutenant with a pause, allowing the anxiety to build in the room. “Spill it out, Human!” said the Punaab while jumping over the table. He brought the small dagger just a few inches from Wenn’s face. Wenn smiled and said: “Milord, in my last report I told you they had completed the Game Design and the Concept Art, so now they are building the basics of the gameplay mechanics. We might see the save/load feature complete any day now. Also, the User Interface models are in good progress. Once their basic visuals are approved they will start the work on the terminal systems, integrating those into the game and testing with the pipeline. I actually managed to acquire this picture from their database.” Modular Cliff System Built and Alpha Set Pieces Placed /// High-fidelity Fjord Design /// Cinematic Quality Unreal Engine 5 Experience He added: “Also, they have managed to sync ATMTA blockchain architecture with the wallet technology, resuming the wireframe production work on the Blockchain front.” “KIKIKI! This is sending chills down my old bones! Can you feel this, lads?!” asked the Punaab, still poking his dagger. “Absolutely resolutely, Boss!” said Henchman 1. “In every screw of my body, Boss!” said Henchman 2. Lieutenant Wenn kept going: “This is not the end, Milord. The DAO also had a productive sprint. They are on the last steps of prototyping! The Proxy CPI is nearing completion, and the DAO team is working together with the ATLAS staking personnel. They are incessantly working on the wireframes necessary to work out data features inside the DAO architecture and typescript bindings to communicate with Solana Programs. Finally, they are following the progress of the Goki/Tribeca audits.” Wenn stopped to catch his breath, looking every one of the pirates in the room in the eye before continuing: “Finally, the system polishing work also had improvements. They managed to further update the Terms of Services and Privacy Policy format, while also working on optimizing the mobile user’s profiles. Another very neat feature is that they added endpoints to Galaxy users to enable 3rd parties to access the total circulating token supplies of ATLAS and POLIS in real-time.” The eyes of the Punaab shined green with greed in the dark room. After a small pause, he said: “This is enough, Lieutenant Wenn! KIKIKI! The boss will be even more pleased! I’ve got to say, Wenn, you proved your value once more. It’s time that you got your recognition!” The Punaab made a small gesture and Henchman 2 went to the back of the room, barely taking a minute before coming back with a big cube stamped with the Jorvik symbol. Before a confused Lieutenant Wenn could react, Henchman 1’s thick arms clamped down on him. As Wenn tried to disengage, the Punaab placed the box around one of his arms and said: “Welcome aboard, Brodah!! KIKIKI!” “The cube sprang to life after feeling the touch of the Punaab, biting the arm of the Lieutenant as a hungry beast.” Agent M4 narrated in an epic tone, before pausing and saying: “Lieutenant Wenn, in honor of our friendship, I will leave out the high-pitched scream that you let out, ok?” said the Mierese, with a perfectly blank face, even though he still had the communicator button pressed. The tired human murmured an answer, not paying attention to the dramatics of his Mierese companion. Wenn’s gaze was focused on analyzing their long-sought objective: The “tattoo” on his forearm that identified him as a legitimate member of Jorvik. If only he had more time… maybe they could crack the technology and replicate it… but it wasn’t any good to dwell on imaginary scenarios, not right now when there was so much at stake and so little time to act. Wenn strained to focus his mind and started the walk toward the ship. “Let’s go. We have a flight to catch. Please continue your little play inside the ship. We aren’t out of hot water just yet,” said Lieutenant Wenn to the Mierese. The Mierese grabbed the Punaab as gently as he would grab a bag of potatoes, which caused more groans from the angry captive. The Mierese didn’t seem to notice and continued his story as he entered the ship, signaling for two guards to drag the knocked-out usturs. “After a few seconds, the cube entered into the human arm, molding itself as a tattoo of the Jorvik Pirates.” said the agent, resuming his log. “Before the ugly pirate could utter more of his lousy kikiki laughter, a very handsome Mierese appeared from the corner shadows. Everything progressed quickly after that”- the Mierese spoke to the communicator in his arm. “Two flashes of teal light broke the darkness in the room, and the Usturs were down in an instant. The Punaab grew pale, as the first lights of the twin moons of Liblit, coming from a crack on the wall, gently kissed the beautiful silhouette of the famous bounty hunter that stood before him.” “Everything was over in the blink of an eye. Mr. Sbugolz and his henchmen were arrested. We got the cube inside. Lieutenant Wenn and our crew are ready to roll on the real mission.” End of Mission Log — Shadow Ops Agent M4 At this point, Lieutenant Wenn, who had been listening to the Mierese give his report, was profoundly inclined to write a report of his own. Hell, he thought to himself, he should report that the Mierese agent was living in his own reality, seeming to “forget” what Wenn deemed important details, such as the agent’s weapon jamming, the Punaab madly laughing KIKIKI with his custom laser Gatling gun and the whole chaos that followed. He even opened his mouth to protest as he watched the Mierese inject a drug into the Punaab, who eventually stopped resisting. Ultimately, Wenn decided it wasn’t worth it. “Yago has a few too many screws loose. It would be weird if he didn’t, though… considering his past.” thought Wenn to himself and shrugged. The Mierese sat in the chair next to the Lieutenant. They fastened their seat belts as their ship, an elegantly customized Thrill of Life from the Busan manufacturer, started powering up for the jump to space. The Mierese opened a bottle of a bubbly drink and raised his legs to the edge of the ship’s console. “Here we go, buddy” he said, giving the drink to Wenn, before popping an intoxicating beverage for himself. “No drinking and driving”, he said solemnly. “It’s gonna be a loooong journey…” murmured Lieutenant Wenn. This guide was written by the NOOT of CHAOS, it’s as biased as a son who writes about his loving mother. Do or do noot research, I noot care. (Originally written by given permission to post here by: ZeSKK https://medium.com/@jose_eduardosiqueira/the-ultimate-noot-starters-guide-to-polis-the-gift-of-gods-c22e727cd423) This is a gospel about Polis and its wonderfull properties. Read, Love, enjoy. I — WHAT IS POLIS? When Michael and Friends started SA they realised that they needed two things in order to build their new, stable and nootsome world. They needed a dynamic economy and they needed a structure to give in game and extra game real power to their players to determinate the ways and paths of future of the game. For the first, they created Atlas. For the second, the gods created POLIS. The name POLIS comes from the Ancient Greek, which means city. As some of you know The greeks, around VIII a.c, started living in cities called Polis, and the fundamental characteristic of living in a Polis was that every citzen of the Polis had the right to come forward and speak up about the city’s affairs, directly influencing in the governance and voting on every proposition concerning the Polis. In Star Atlas, this concept is further developed into the really noot Idea of descentralized governance, POLIS here is proof of citzenship, like into ancient greece, BUT it also expands into actually being able to govern a piece of star atlas metaverse, and even stablish extra game features, to the point that trough Polis ownership the DAO can even take the control of the game from the SA Team. 1 Polis = 1 Vote Should you acquire 360.000.000 Polis, you are the máster of pretty much everything in SA (But you won’t since I won’t sell mine). We will noot about that now. II — THE POWARS OF POLIS First of all, some features of polis, POLIS IS VERY LIMITED IN SUPPLY, as I stated above, there will be only 360.000.000 POLIS forever, so for each Polis you acquire you are granting yourself eternal vote polis in AS. Second, POLIS IS SOFT POWER, the beautifull thing of POLIS is that you don’t have to spend it to use it awesome powers, that I will explain later. UNLIKE ATLAS ASSETS POLIS DON’T HAVE USE COSTS, while growing in strength over time due to scarcity! Third, POLIS GIVE YOU PASSIVE INCOME, as soon as we reach february 3rd, hopefully, we will be able to stake our polis in smart contracts, this will give us income in form of more glorious POLIS! It’s a snowball of blessings. Owning POLIS give you powers in three different levels: Regional governance Faction governance SA universe governance The usual SA citzen thinks that this is a game of buy ships and go pew pew. Well you sure can have fun doing that, I’m doing that, everyone is doing that. BUT in reality this is a game of politcs, friendship and diplomacy, in all of its forms. IF you want to participate in END GAME CONTENT YOU WILL NEED GROWING NUMBERS OF POLIS. I shall show you that while explaining the three dimensions of Polis influence above. AS UNIVERSE GOVERNANCE — So, you want to rule the world huh? Well the Best, and possibly, unique way for that is trough POLIS HOLDING. Oh you don’t think so? LET ME SHOW YOU WHAT THE SA UNIVERSE DAO CAN VOTE ON: Monetary Policy The DAO FUND (SA TREASURY) Game development DIVIDENDS Budget for NPC purchase, incentivizing production. Overrarching rules regulating lower levels DAOS Protocol updates Emergency Actions Enabling and Disabling Game Components You can come and say: “ But noot noot, this is soooo far awayyy from meee” noot, this is really important and right next to you! IMAGINE IF A FREAKING WHALE VOTE THE OPAL JET OF THE GAME!!!!!! GG WP friend. The citzens of the Metaverse must remain aways vigilant, with their Polis into their hands, to help influence the outcomes of our game!! Also remember, there is little polis in circulation now, as sooner as you buy some and start making passive income of it the more capable you will be to fight the politic wars of the late game! BUT NOOT I JUST WANT TO MAKE MONEY. NOOT NOOT INFIDEL! BUT OK, I will show you how you can influence your pockets more directly in the next level! FACTION GOVERNANCE — The next Power of Polis influence is the FACTION GOVERNANCE. In this level you start to see more clear objectives for the common player. IT BASICALLY MEANS THAT YOU CAN VOTE YOUR ENTIRE FACTION INTO DOING 4 KINDS OF OBJECTIVES: Occupy Hold Build Patrol MEGA PROJECTS So, let me give you a use case, The first mega Project the USTUR Faction will be voting will be the creation of my NOOT STAR. I will propose it to the FACTION DAO and, IF it passes, the TAX FROM EVERYONE IN THE USTUR WILL FUND THE CREATION OF THE SUPREME WEAPON MUHAHAHHA I could give you lots of examples from the others as well, you can send your faction into a CRUSADE! And things like that! Now you say: “wow.. noot noot!!! I can see potential in that!!! Well, it only gets better friend, For we are reaching the most fun and direct level of influence!!!!! Regional Governance — The universe of SA is divided on regions, which in turn contain star systems and planets. Regional DAO control specialization of star systems and Access restrictions by adjusting taxation. Regional governance can: Adjust local taxation: a. Region-wide global (e.g. a flat 5% tax on all activities) b. Specialized by activity (e.g. 5% for mining, collected in ore, 10% on ship missions, collected in ATLAS) c. Regional treasuries cannot pay dividends, but can provide monetary bonuses for certain mission type Govern and update the local policies: Distribute the budget between the funds allocated to the local policies a. Protecting planet from external threats (military policy) b. Maintaining internal security (homeland security policy) c. Diplomacy and external relations policy (making alliances, applying custom duties on selected imported goods to protect the internal market, etc.) Distribute the budget between the funds allocated to the local policies Basically, IF you can control the polis votes on a regional DAO you become the governor of the region, able to use all the funds of the region on the interest of your coalition! “So noot, IF i govern a region I can even set how the militar force is used? Yes. I can create laws about goods and services? Yes. I can determinate taxes?! YEESS!!!” So yeah.. POLIS IS REALLY STRONG, especially in the lower levels, since you won’t need a milion POLIS TO RULE A PLANET! I HOPE THIS CAN OPEN YOUR EYES TO WHAT YOU ARE MISSING ON POLIS! REALLY! NOOT NOOT! I will follow this text with more in deep mechanics of Polis on my next writtings! Hope you all enjoyed! Peace out

Ustur Executive Surveyor Report: Star Atlas Roadmap Scan #01 (initially posted on Medium https://medium.com/star-atlas/ustur-executive-surveyor-report-star-atlas-roadmap-scan-01-f7d9336abd33) Star Atlas Block Entanglement No. ###OMITTED###: A transmission recovered from the Cosmic Hypergraph is chronicling the status of the development progress of Star Atlas and its various projects… Decrypted Star Atlas Transmission /// Metaverse Substrate Work in Progress /// Immersive Blockchain-powered UE5 Experience It was raining outside the Headquarters of ATMTA Industries, heavy drops of water colliding with the reinforced glass of the panoramic window of the last floor of the building, where a pleased-looking member of the Ustur faction was closing his computer log before calling the day. As he was rising from his chair, a few quick knocks at the door announced a visitor, the fourth of the day, the ustur reckoned, but, in the same way he did for the three before him, he welcomed the visitor with a kind voice: “Please, come in.” A young human cadet, who couldn’t be more than 25 years old, visibly nervous, proclaimed: “S-sir! The report sir! We just retrieved the last information from the various projects, Sir! “Oh, Wonderful!” the CEO of ATMTA proclaimed. “Would you mind following me and reading the report out loud?” He grabbed his coat and suitcase, while heading for the door. “Absolutely not Sir! huh.. where should I start…” murmured the cadet. “Why don’t you start with the Showroom, Cadet…” the ustur asked with a side glance while they walked through a very clean hallway, decorated only with a few pieces of art. “Wenn Sir, Cadet Wenn!” the human quickly replied. “Cadet Wenn! Please proceed, young man, how are our efforts going on the Showroom front?” The Cadet was so focused on his reading that he didn’t even notice that they were taking the stairs, automatically descending the steps one after another, following the ustur. “Our Alpha Version of the Showroom is progressing really well Sir! As you know, our Goal in the showroom is to enable our players to view their High Fidelity NFT spaceships in a hangar in MUD territory simply by connecting their Solana Wallets!” The cadet stated, while also adding: “The concept art and the game design are complete, we are currently building the art and the user’s experience and interface at the moment while prototyping the Blockchain technology. From our last report, we can pinpoint that we have basically moved all the art to the alpha phase; we have the full wireframes completed, pending only on wallet integrations. The high-fidelity styling pass received the first full approval as well, you can see a sample of the art in the monitor, Sir. Star Atlas User Interface Alpha WIP /// Player-enabled Metaverse Experience /// Immersive Blockchain-powered UE5 Gameplay “Excellent, Wenn! Would you like to see the video the showroom team sent me while you elaborate on the planned next steps?” The Ustur asked the Cadet in a jovial manner as he proceeded to the nearest terminal. Wenn replied immediately: “Absolutely! I mean, yes sir!” He then proceeded to declare: We will next proceed to implement the alpha meshes together with the surfacing, then we… Wow… I did see the clip but…Sir… this is simply…” “Epic right? The Ustur proclaimed with a proud smile on his face. https://twitter.com/staratlas/status/1504905198971457536 For a few moments, the world around them disappeared. Both, ustur and human, mesmerized. The video that passed before their eyes was indeed beautiful, even if it didn’t even reflect the latest development stage of the project, it was actually awe-inducing, and no enthusiast of space vessels would remain unmoved by it, the feeling of watching the first days of a universe birth. “At the end of the day, we are all simple beings, ustur, humans, onis… We see big beautiful ships, we are happy.” The ustur declared. — “So, tell me Wenn, how are the other projects?” “Sir, We have other four projects that are of public knowledge at the moment, the Marketplace, System polish, DAO, and SCREAM.” “The Marketplace is being updated based on our user’s feedback. We are laying the foundations that are necessary to prepare it for the game experience. In terms of overall development, we are nearly finished building the Blockchain structure, while modeling the basic structures for the user experience, interface, and front end.” “This entails that, since the last report, we have finished the marketplace program, the first version of the high-fidelity design, allowing us to make progress on the ATLAS staking program and the design of the modeling for the core user flow.” “That is good news, especially the ATLAS staking. From your report, I guess we will now turn into implementing methods that allow our engineers and front end to communicate with Solana and finish the modeling for the core user flow right? The CEO asked while resuming their walk into the next flight of stairs.” “That’s correct Sir. Proceeding with our report, we have now the system polish project, whose goal is to guarantee high standards of quality for our user’s experience across all of our content, and this time we managed to fix small bugs, like the website scrolling glitch and the new wallet enlistment showing 404 error, while also adding new features, such as when the user claims atlas a spinner pops up, different button icons to change variant depending on device’s window, styled disclaimer for the wallet, and some other additions to the DAO structure”. “That’s quite the list Cadet Wenn, would you like a sip of water before moving on?” Asked the boss as they reached the next floor, filled with people walking around on their own errands, even though it was already late at night. “You know… hydration is paramount to your species, the ustur advised.” Moving immediately to a water filter that was fixed on the wall of the ample corridor. From there, they could see through the glass the whole scenario of the grounds of the headquarters, a literal city born from iron, coffee, and dreams. Wenn thought about murmuring some kind of excuse to keep talking, but the ustur face showed no sign of accepting a no for an answer, so he drank the water, taking a moment to watch the rain that stubbornly seemed to attack the walls of the building. He realized that he liked this. The Headquarters, the smell of rain coming through the glass, the people who were hurrying to complete their tasks just like him… He knew that not a single one of those faces hurried to complete their tasks just for the sake of completing them, but for what that entails, with each task that every single one of them completed, they got closer to their shared dream. He let that sink in for a few moments. The pause was actually good for him to gather his thoughts on how to proceed to the next two projects. The CEO broke the silence after a few moments. “So, I believe there is a reason why you saved the DAO and SCREAM for the end huh…” as they resumed their walk through the last flight of stairs. “Sir… as you know, the DAO and SCREAM are two of the most desired features in our project. Our community dreams of those two modules and…” The ustur face became totally blank, unreadable, as they walked through the last steps of the stair. Wenn continued. “Well, the current goal of the POLIS DAO is to enable the first version of its protocol, which will promote community visibility into and control over the DAO treasury as well as establishing staking/reward structure to incentivize community governance. We are nearly at the halfway mark on the blockchain structure and the user experience and interface completions. From the last report update, we have managed to settle on Tribeca for the main framework of our project and are waiting for the auditing process. Meanwhile, we managed to set the wireframe interactions going and the proxy program development is also going well.” “For our next steps, we should be able to set the reward algorithms going, finish the high-fidelity design and work out through the legal and economic parameters of the DAO. It’s a good advance sir, but I wish we knew all the answers that we have acquired through this process beforehand…” “What about SCREAM Cadet?” The ustur inquired in an emotionless voice. “SCREAM, is, without a shadow of a doubt, the most anticipated module of Star Atlas right now Sir. After several inputs from the community, as well as our business intelligence department together with the game design, we redefined SCREAM’s scope to be a standalone minigame, allowing for players to have meaningful progression with their ships and to work together with their factions to achieve shared goals. “The broader scope comes with good news, we are building SCREAM in 3D immersive graphics, and we have modeled quite a few game mechanics and loops! From our last update, we managed to refine the blockchain architecture based on gameplay, building testable programs. We are also refining user interaction flows based on the said gameplay structure, and are working on the models for the front-end 3D web engines while also modeling the economics of the gameplay loops. “Basically, we are setting our models to test, and I got to say, they are exciting Sir.” Said Wenn, even though his voice was somehow hindered. The curious duo reached the doors of the company, just before the pouring rain, and the ustur spoke. “Even though all that news reflects good progress, something seems to be disturbing you. Why don’t you say it out loud Cadet Wenn?” “Sir…I-I don’t know, to be honest, it just feels as if we could have come up with those solutions that we have uncovered before…” Wenn uncomfortably answered. “Oh, I see… tell me, Cadet, how long have you been working with us? The ustur asked, eyes gazing at the world outside. “Three weeks sir.” he promptly answered. “Very well, in those three weeks, did you, or any of your co-workers strayed away from your duties, Cadet? Did you perhaps stop fulfilling your obligations or completing the assignments that were given to you to the best of your abilities?” Said the ustur turning over to him. “No Sir,” said the Cadet firmly. “There is no such convenient way to create a new world, Cadet. Every single dead-end is a victory for this company because it eliminates a false road towards our dream.” “There is no time to lose with self-pity, we have a most sacred mission on our hands, and we honor it by doing our very best, every single day, like the both of us here now, past 2 AM working on reports for the community.” “Our fervor and passion will end up winning, Cadet. Every single one of the two hundred team members of this company is a hopeless dreamer that will be damned before failing into making this the ultimate gaming experience this universe has ever seen, isn’t that right, Cadet?” “Absolutely, Sir,” said the cadet, unwavering. “Go sleep Wenn, tomorrow there is more work to do.” The ustur turned back once more with a shadow of a smile on his face, and went into the rain. Intergalactic Transmission to the Star Atlas Community: Encouraging Creativity in the Star Atlas MetaverseA deep dive into intellectual property for content creators in the Star Atlas metaverse ONI Art WIP /// Blockchain-powered In-game Asset /// Immersive UE5 ExperienceTo our Star Atlas community of interstellar explorers, This transmission explains our intellectual property policy and how it affects content creators in the vibrant Star Atlas community. But before we dive into the policy, we need to provide some context. As you know, we are building something special. Not just a AAA-quality game, but the Star Atlas metaverse — a platform that seamlessly brings the community together and enables creators to contribute to an immersive and ever-expanding experience. In its end state, the Star Atlas metaverse will welcome players and creators alike and bring power to the people. You, the community, will own what you create and will, through the DAO, control the Star Atlas metaverse itself. The goal is to go from here — a promising work in progress — to there — a potent and self-sustaining metaverse experience. We, the Star Atlas Team, are gathering an incredibly dedicated and talented crew to get all of us there, but we need time. We are developing foundational lore, art, design, and game concepts for the Star Atlas metaverse. We are deploying the systems needed for the Star Atlas DAO to operate with total autonomy. We are building the platforms needed for DACs to create their own blockchain assets. We are doing all this and more. In this critical building phase, we need to maintain strict controls over what defines the Star Atlas metaverse — we want a newcomer’s first reaction when encountering Star Atlas to be one of amazement and wonder. We therefore reserve rights to control the look and feel of Star Atlas and maintain a high standard of quality. We hope our efforts will set the bar for all future content in the Star Atlas metaverse. What does this mean for you?Under our intellectual property policy for user-created services (included in our Terms of Service, which govern intellectual property rights and will be updated from time to time), you can freely use Star Atlas copyrights (such as images and artwork) and trademarks (the name and logo) if: Your use is strictly for non-commercial and not-for-profit purposes; You include a prominent disclaimer that your use is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Star Atlas Team and do not otherwise use Star Atlas intellectual property in a way that is likely to confuse people about the source of your use; andYou agree to comply with any quality control requirements that the Star Atlas Team may impose at its sole discretion. We review uses on a case-by-case basis to ensure they comply with our policy. For the eager content creators out there, what does this mean for you? The following are examples of permitted uses, if the use is non-commercial (nothing being sold), does not confuse others into thinking it is affiliated with the official Star Atlas Team (including by having a prominent disclaimer), and meets quality control requirements: Maintaining an informational guide or fan website dedicated to Star Atlas ships, lore, or other assetsRecording videos describing and showing off Star Atlas artwork and gameplayCreating lore or artwork derived from Star Atlas intellectual property to be given freely to your fellow DAC membersCreating completely original lore or artwork that is loosely grounded in the Star Atlas Metaverse but not directly based on Star Atlas intellectual propertyFor permissible uses, we encourage you to use the official Star Atlas logo and artwork! Just not in a way that would lead anyone to think your use is endorsed by or affiliated with the Star Atlas Team. Examples of impermissible uses: Selling apparel or other merchandise bearing Star Atlas intellectual propertySelling NFTs based directly on Star Atlas intellectual propertyGiving away art or NFTs based on Star Atlas intellectual property directly in order to induce others to contribute funds, assets, or anything of value to your DACWriting lore based on Star Atlas intellectual property with the intention of selling, licensing, or otherwise developing it for a commercial purposeIf you have questions about your specific use, please reach out to our General Counsel, Dan Park (@frogverse#0001 on the Star Atlas Discord). Moving forward from hereWe are working on solutions to empower content creators to build their own content in the Star Atlas metaverse in a completely decentralized manner. Once fully realized, the Star Atlas metaverse will transform the creator-consumer relationship. As such, expect our intellectual property policy to change over time, and also expect us to reveal more ways for you to get directly involved in content creation for the Star Atlas metaverse. We will clearly communicate any policy changes and new opportunities so everyone has a chance to participate fully. We are grateful for your continued cooperation and support. By working together, the stars are the limit. Star Atlas launches the next phase of its Galactic Asset Offering featuring a series of new spacetime-bending Unreal Engine 5 in-game ships Fimbul Airbike WIP /// Player-owned In-game Asset /// Immersive Blockchain-powered UE5 NFT ExperienceThe grand overture to the spectacular 2022 season of ship manufacturing will be the release of the Fimbul Airbike spacecraft on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 9 AM PST (5 PM UTC), followed by continuous drops approximately every two weeks. The ship’s information page on the Galactic Marketplace features a countdown to sale starting time as well as photo galleries with action shots and schematics. As with previous drops, the page also details in-game specs, including Crew capacity, Components and Modules, which are viewable on individual asset pages. This new phase of the Galactic Asset Offering will not only make more ships available players but also bring in a vastly larger variety of ships to the market. There will be a total of 51 new ships coming to the market, of which three will be gigantic awe-inspiring Titan class ships that will be sold via a fair auction system later this year. A more detailed roster of ship models and specs will be revealed over time to allow for individual Star Atlas players and guilds (Decentralized Autonomous Corporations) alike to strategize about their fleet composition, gameplay direction and bulk purchasing options. Players will be able to enroll these ships in the Faction Fleet (SCORE) game feature to earn ATLAS, including the future Ship Missions module, and use them in subsequent iterations of the cinematic quality Unreal Engine 5 Showroom Module. See the official Star Atlas Roadmap for more information on these features. With this drop, the payment model for new ships is moving towards a majority utilization of the Star Atlas in-game currency, ATLAS. The availability of each new ship’s supply will be in a 80–20 ratio of ATLAS and UDSC, 80% of the total quantity being set for purchase exclusively with ATLAS and the remaining 20% with USDC. As is already the case for existing ships, new ones will also trade in both currency markets simultaneously. Fimbul AirbikeComing from a faction agnostic manufacturer, Fimbul, this nimble sky thunderer measures 3.8m (12.5 feet) in length. Its composition from reusable materials coming largely from civilian space flight technologies gives it a special charm and universal utility. Fimbul Airbike in Action WIP /// Player-owned In-game Asset /// Immersive Solana-powered UE5 ExperienceShip spec: Racer /// Rarity: Common /// Class: XX-Small /// Available supply: 375,000 /// Price: 262,500 at 15 USDC and 112,500 at 20 USDC The Fimbul Airbike is the perfect starter ship for the budget conscious space traveler. Even though the oversized impulse engine fitting is using some slightly dated technologies, the Airbike can still perform speeds and distances typical of its class. Fresh off the production line, this ship does not come with stocked weapons, but the hardpoint can be equipped aftermarket to utilize all of its capabilities. Shipcraft engineers tend to fondly recall their first Airbike blueprint that turned them onto the wonders of space flight. Link to the ship on Galactic Marketplace.
